The last week I got some hits from Google IPs. The strange thing is, Google transmitted a fake referrer telling me, that they had found my site for the keyword “abc”.

Now I don’t have any of my sites showing up for the keyword “abc”, so what is Google doing? Checking if my sites will change if they transmit a google-search referrer?

If you have sites which generate pages based on the referrer, I would show every search engine IP the same site for the same URL.

Does anyone know more about these strange Google visits?
